Saving Today’s Youth for a Better Tomorrow

Our mission is to teach Basic Carpentry Skills to Young Adults and Youth in Urban Cities across America. By teaching carpentry, we will help to reduce high unemployment among this age group. This will lead to lower crime and violence rates. Some people say those Young People don't want to work. CCUSA says we never taught them how to work. Please help us save lives, build stronger families, and participate in Community Development as we Build Houses.

A Message from Our Founder

My name is David VanWilliams. I am pleased to invite all prospective students to take advantage of the enormous benefits of enrolling in Community Carpentry USA. This program will give you many job opportunities, and some graduates will start their businesses. Students who attend classes regularly will get paid a stipend each Friday.

You must be serious in class, but we know how to have fun. We have a strict dress code required for your safety and to maintain a professional appearance. We will provide students with quality work boots.

We provide each student a carpenter's nail apron with a hammer and other hand tools. We will have classroom time and construction site time. We will tour building supply companies like Home Depot and Lowes. We will also tour houses during construction and high-rise buildings.

This carpentry training program started in the Spring of 2014 in Birmingham, AL, with a Grant from a major university. We have opened our second location in Tallahassee, FL in February 2020. We teach carpentry skills to unskilled unemployed young adults and youth.

We look forward to meeting you and helping you start a career in carpentry construction.
